What Is a Nitrogen Blanketing Valve?
A nitrogen blanketing valve (also known as a tank padding valve) maintains a positive pressure of inert gas in the vapor space of a storage tank. When product is pumped out, or when temperature drops cause vapor contraction, the valve automatically admits nitrogen to prevent vacuum formation and exclude air.
The DST-100 uses a balanced piston design optimized for higher flow rates, responding quickly to tank pressure changes in larger vessels. It opens when pressure falls below the setpoint and closes tightly once the blanket is restored. This modulating action minimizes nitrogen consumption while providing continuous protection for industrial-scale applications.
