What Is a Nitrogen Blanketing Valve?
A nitrogen blanketing valve (also known as a tank padding valve) maintains a positive pressure of inert gas in the vapor space of a storage tank. When product is pumped out, or when temperature drops cause vapor contraction, the valve automatically admits nitrogen to prevent vacuum formation and exclude air.
The DST-200 uses a balanced piston design optimized for maximum flow rates, responding quickly to tank pressure changes in the largest vessels. It opens when pressure falls below the setpoint and closes tightly once the blanket is restored.
