What Is a Nitrogen Blanketing Valve?
A nitrogen blanketing valve (also known as a tank padding valve) maintains a positive pressure of inert gas in the vapor space of a storage tank. When product is pumped out, or when temperature drops cause vapor contraction, the valve automatically admits nitrogen to prevent vacuum formation and exclude air.
The DST-50 uses a balanced piston design that responds to tank pressure changes, opening only when pressure falls below the setpoint and closing tightly once the blanket is restored. This modulating action minimizes nitrogen consumption while providing continuous protection.
